Job description

You take pride in your work – and we take pride in our people

We're an international betting and gaming business, and we work at pace to adapt to the constant changes in our industry. A qualified accountant you’ll have drive, ambition and great problem solving skills. You’ll be keen to learn and develop, joining a new team in a dynamic and interesting business.

About Us

With over 16,000 people worldwide, we make a huge investment in everyone, offering great career development opportunities. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and we offer a fast-paced environment where we have fun, celebrate success and give you all the tools you’ll need to be your best self. It’s not just our colleagues we look after – we’ve got a responsibility to our customers too and we work hard on our ambition that nobody is harmed by gambling.

Your role in the team

You will be joining a brand new Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC) FOR William Hill as part of the General Accounting Team, in the heart of Leeds.

Your role will report into the Head of Financial Control as part of the General Accounting Team – there may be the requirement for occasional travel to other sites within the UK and further afield. You’ll look after the maintenance and management of the General Ledger and sub-ledgers on our ERP system, JD Edwards. You’ll also pick up manual interface and reconciliation processes, including our retail contribution, making sure financial processes and financial control requirements are always met.

You’ll look after the integrity of the ledgers, the running and controlling of the month end close process including foreign exchange and intercompany and the opening and closing of new object accounts and cost centres. You’ll have the chance to link in with different finance teams across the business, reporting any unusual transactions to the Senior Management team. Additionally you’ll have to chance to look after certain manual interface journals and reconciling processes – particularly retail contribution from the shop tills to our accountancy system. You’ll drive change in processes as the new FSSC develops and support the FSSC and Head of Financial Control as needed.

Skills needed

We need you to be a qualified accountant with experience in an accounting function, ideally in a large and multi-national business. You’ll have expert knowledge of large ERP systems; preferably JD Edwards. You’ll be able to implement best in class financial processes, the go to person for ledger maintenance and period close processes. You’ll bring with you experience of designing and implementing financial controls, making sure these controls are adhered to. There may be challenges from time to time but you will thrive on using your natural analytical outlook and will enjoy solving problems independently and efficiently. You’ll be able to confidently influence stakeholders by translating complex and technical financial information into meaningful conversations. You’ll be able to easily comprehend, reconcile and manage financial records. In addition you’ll have experience of liaising with external auditors and providing schedules and support for their audit. We’re always striving for continuous improvement and you must be able to demonstrate an ability to challenge the norm. A team player, you’ll be assertive and proactive with a drive and energy to exceed goals.

What we offer

We’ll welcome you on-board with 25 days holiday (not to mention 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday), a rewarding bonus scheme, healthcare (or a cash alternative), an attractive pension package, life assurance, healthy gym discounts and a flexible benefits scheme. Plus, our season ticket loan and handy Metro Card loan will save you money getting to work and getting around town. And if you see the journey to work as part of your fitness regime, you’ll just love our Cycle to Work scheme.

William Hill in Leeds

Right in the middle of the creative heart of the UK sit both of our Leeds offices. Leeds itself is a buzzy, busy place to work and live. A hub for tech, digital and gaming companies – there’s also five universities right on our doorstep. And away from work, we’re in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and of course have got a competitive sports scene with Leeds United and Yorkshire Cricket and Rugby just up the road in Headingly.
