Job description

The Financial Analyst is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, margin analysis, target costing projects, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.  The position also constructs and monitors cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

  • Work with functional heads and managers to develop departmental and organizational budget
  • Review managers' budget proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations 
  • Monitor organization and department spending to ensure that it is within budget and challenge as appropriate
  • Advise department managers in formulating their budget submissions and remind them of due dates
  • Examine whether budget submissions can be achieved based on known capacity constraints and inform management of potential problem areas
  • Review and propose budget enhancements as necessary
  • Examine capital budget requests, create a consolidated budget version for management approval, and coordinate capital budgeting approvals
  • Compare actual to budgeted results 
Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 3+ year’s Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of all accounting procedures
  • Ability to manage highly analytical and challenging business issues with complex financial and operating efficiency implications
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying the use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Skilled in use of financial software packages
  • Ability to multi-task on various projects, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products
  • High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to work interactively across functional groups
