This is a second line compliance role and will carry the statutory duties of a Data Protection Officer and be responsible for ensuring the business is compliant with existing and future Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) regulations that are applicable to our business.
In this role you'll promote the responsible use of peoples' personal data and our future use of innovative AI technologies and you'll also manage and report on data protection compliance risk ensuring the department meets defined SLAs.
You'll also promote organisation-wide awareness and provide awareness training for colleagues ensuring the business is prepared for any new legal and regulatory developments relating to data protection and privacy.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the strategic data protection programme management including oversight of consultancy practices, operations, and Data Rights team
- Delivering the statutory role of a Data Protection Officer or similar position prescribed by relevant regulations
- Developing and maintaining necessary documentation policies and procedures as appropriate
- Managing and documenting personal data breaches and reporting/escalating as necessary
- Managing our relationships with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and other key regulators
- Providing a point of escalation for data protection and AI compliance matters and escalating key matters to the Executive Risk & Sustainability Committee.
- Consulting on data protection compliance matters
- Oversight of compliance with data protection and AI standards.
Who we are looking for:

- Previous experience leading a Data Protection Team within a large complex organisation with experience in consulting, incident management, and drafting and maintaining policies and procedures, as appropriate
- Experience managing security and data protection incidents including data breaches
- Experience corresponding and responding to any requests from regulators and owning and managing relationship with data protection regulators
- Experienced in providing data protection consultancy on large and complex projects.
