About us

Production Engineers at William Hill are hybrid software/systems engineers who ensure that William Hill’s services run smoothly and have the capacity for future growth. They are embedded in every one of William Hill's product and infrastructure teams and are core participants in every significant engineering effort underway in the company.
Ideally, you have a natural curiosity, strong analytical skills, ability, attitude, and a desire to develop your broad range of skills to join our production engineering team.
We sail into uncharted waters every day at William Hill in Production Engineering, and we are always learning. This position is full-time and located in our Leeds office.


Your role in the team

Ideally, you have a natural curiosity, strong analytical skills, ability, attitude and a desire to develop your broad range of skills to join our production engineering team. We sail into uncharted waters every day at William Hill in Production Engineering, and we are always learning. This position is full-time and located in our Leeds office.

You will:
  • Own back-end services, front-end services, infrastructure components and everything in between
  • Have an ability to write and review code, involved in capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems, live, on some of the complex systems within William Hill.

Together with your engineering team, you will share an on-call rotation, and a 5 from 7 regular working pattern including weekend cover.


Skills needed

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Basic proficiency in UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals.
  • Sharp and tenacious troubleshooting skills, Self-motivated, enjoy technical challenges and delivering results, flexible and adaptable and can cope when thrown in at the deep end.
  • Good knowledge of basic large-scale internet service architectures (such as load balancing, CDN's), even if you haven't worked on one.
  • Demonstrated understanding of collaborative task management.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail oriented and careful
