Your role in the team

We are building world-class Big Data platform which will give us power to process streams of data and enable machine learning and advanced analytics capabilities. Everything cloud-based for scalability and speed to market.

As a Cloud Engineer for Big Data, you’ll be building tools and processes for CICD pipelines to test and deploy new Big Data platform. You will be measuring performance and costs and drive initiatives to optimise it. You will take care of infrastructure automation, containerisation, distributed component integration, security, log aggregation, monitoring and troubleshooting Big Data Platform issues together with data engineers. You will be working mainly with AWS and may do same work in our private cloud environment.

 

Skills needed

 

 

  • Experience with real-life deployments to any of the major cloud providers (i.e. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Openstack)
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as a Code paradigm (experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, GCP Cloud Deployment Manager is a plus)
  • 3+ years professional experience as a software developer in any high-level language
  • 2+ years of experience in Cloud/System engineer role
  • Good understanding of cloud computing paradigm (distributed logging, service discovery, stateless applications, scaling, HA)
  • Experience in building pipelines for automating of applications scaffolding, testing, building, auto-scaling and integration
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus
  • Agile mindset and practice in software development process e.g. Scrum, Kanban, TDD, BDD
  • Desire to learn modern technologies for big data/analytics
