Job description

Achieving operational excellence with a focus on customer protection

Hybrid home / office working with a Gibraltar base

This is an exciting opportunity to join a great betting and gaming company as we embark on a transformational journey. You'll be the owner of Compliance operational excellence for UK customers with all William Hill brands, working under the strategic direction of second line compliance.  The regulatory landscape changes regularly, meaning you’ll have to ensure processes and systems are up to date and watertight to abide by these changes. You’ll need to be a strong leader to achieve this, ensuring targets and deliverables are achieved to agreed plans whilst working closely with, and advising the Director of Customer Compliance and other Personal Management Licence holders.

You can make an impact in this highly visible role with broad scope. You'll join a highly motivated, high performing and highly engaged team who take immense pride in doing a good job.

About us

Our industry is tightly regulated and Compliance is an area of huge focus for us. We acknowledge and embrace our compliance responsibilities as a licenced business by continuously reviewing our customers' activity to ensure that we meet our social responsibility and anti-money laundering requirements.

Your role in the team

You'll lead the Compliance operations team with a focus on enhancing William Hill’s KYC / source of funds processes. Using your great people management skills, you'll be responsible for recruiting, developing and leading skilled team members - overseeing the provision of regular training to all team members and the business under the strategic direction of second line compliance.

An eye on quality and detail is essential, as you'll be monitoring controls, processes and people to ensure accuracy and optimum performance. You'll hold responsibility for implementing and monitoring productivity and efficiency KPIs and taking action to improve where necessary.

Your KYC / source of funds expertise will enable you to effectively own operational processes, including communications strategy, assessment of documents and implementation of appropriate actions . It's important you have a genuine interest in the subject matter, as you'll need to maintain in-depth knowledge on the UK regulatory environment and adapting processes when needed.

You'll be visible across our Compliance team and wider business - for example, attending the customer due diligence daily steering committee as the Compliance subject matter expert. We'll rely on you to prepare and present data, updates and insight for governance and escalation through the compliance committee and the customer due diligence weekly steering committee. You'll need to evaluate requirements, make recommendations and plans for change where appropriate.

You'll prepare insight, updates and progress reports to external bodies, gather information for issues that require regulatory reporting and work with other stakeholders to present that information. Working closely with your Ops Manager peers in our 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defence will enable you to share best practice and optimise resource.

Skills needed:

We'd like you to hear about your success in leading operational teams in the betting and gaming industry. You must be confident managing end-to-end operational processes, controls, and communication channels. We're looking for evidence of strong leadership and engagement skills with the ability to coach and mentor across a range of abilities

Experience from the betting and gaming industry, including hands-on experience of customer compliance (safer gambling / KYC / CDD / source of funds) is essential - you'll be a subject matter expert who can upskill your team to achieve excellence in customer care.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to communicate clearly and build relationships at all levels. Experience in influencing across varying levels of seniority is important too.

You'll need to bring analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decision-making, implement new ways of working and change operational processes. We work at fast pace, in line with regulatory requirements and customer needs, so it's essential you can bring excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise multiple activities . You must be confident working within an ever changing environment with tight deadlines - able to adjust positively to situations that involve changing tasks or shifting priorities
