Commercial Finance Analyst - Retail


Whilst we may be a FTSE250 business with a turnover of over £2 billion we are far from a company that stands still – and that includes our finance function.

This newly created role reports into the Retail FP&A Manager and will be responsible for analysing and influencing the trading performance of the Retail business. You’ll have an understanding and passion for Sport and an intellectual curiosity into understanding the driver of top line performance and margin – you’re the sort of Accountant that asks and can solve the crucial questions why? How? and - what if?  Questions will be both given to you but we’d expect, and hope, you’d want to seek them out for yourself - continuous improvement is everyone’s responsibility! This mind-set and this drive to help the business develop is what set’s you apart from others.

In return you will have the opportunity to work with a wide and varied group of stakeholder across the Retail area in Gaming and Sportsbook (hence the interest in Sport!) to optimise trading performance in shops. This extends to understanding trends and forecasting outturn and of course reporting on trading and margin performance.

However you will need to be comfortable working with vague concepts, direction and ambiguity but will relish the opportunity to develop analysis to aide decision making. You will work closely with the whole Retail Finance team and the Retail business to provide insight and analysis so you’ll need to be able to operate at a granular level as well as summarise findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.

You will be degree educated with an additional Finance qualification. E.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Your background could be Consultancy, Retail or any large multi-product company – but the ability to analyse is a key requirement as are trading and commercial skills environment.  

Experience with SQL and Qlikview is preferred, but not essential.
