Global Data Architect

London - Bedford Avenue

Contract type

Job description

Our data is going global. Join us for the journey.

You’re an accomplished Architect who can bring insight on an international scale. You have an analytical mind that can take complex strategic concepts and break them down into logical technical steps. You understand the evolution of data and can map our transformation from traditional data warehousing to cutting edge solutions. If this sounds like you, then you could be just the type of Global Data Architect we need at William Hill.

Joining our expanding digital business, your architecture expertise will help us to harness the technology which will revolutionise our usage of the huge and dispersed volumes of data we store. As we branch out into the USA market, and embrace new technology in our betting shops closer to home, we need to innovate to stay one step ahead of our competitors.

We’re talking about big data, real time customer data, and everything else you’d think would be part of the dataset across a multinational online betting and gaming company. You’ll work closely with technical colleagues in our digital and retail functions, and support our Data Science, Digital Analytics and Business Intelligence teams by building platforms and solutions for machine learning AI in order to bring their data to life.

Your peer group will be Heads of Technology, Enterprise Architecture and senior business leaders. You’ll be closely aligned to our overall business strategy and will have input into conversations at the highest level.  You’ll be a pragmatic person who can adapt very technical ideas for all types of audiences, and can use your people skills to gauge situations, deal with ambiguity and navigate conflicting priorities. You’ll also manage a small team of Architects who’ll rely on you for leadership and technical direction.

You’re an established Architect who’s well versed in big data technologies at enterprise scale. You’ve worked with tech like Hortonworks and Cloudera, public cloud / AWS plus Kafka, the Google and Microsoft SQL Server stacks. Ideally you’ve got experience in fast paced online e-commerce industries, and it would be great if you’re familiar with machine learning, automation technologies and analytical tools like Power BI and QlikView.

We’d like to see that you can lead and motivate people; that you work well in a team but are self-driven too. You’re focused on technical delivery, and genuinely thrive on change.

This role is based in our brand new central London digital hub, and you’ll need to take regular trips to our offices in Leeds, Krakow and Gibraltar to build good relationships with your stakeholders and peers. We offer an inclusive and flexible working environment which will give you the chance to spread your wings and make a name for yourself.

Join us #behindthebet and you’ll be part of an international architecture community of practice with opportunities for global career progression.
