Job description

As Head of External Fraud Strategy, you will define how fraud prevention protects customer trust, product integrity, and sustainable revenue across our UK and international online gambling products. This is a 1st Line of Defence, outcomes-owned role with real accountability in live production environments - not policy, oversight, or reporting.

You’ll operate as a senior, hands-on fraud practitioner, designing and running proportionate, compliant and disciplined controls that stop abuse early, minimise customer harm, and enable genuine customers to play with confidence and minimal friction.

What you will be doing –

  • Own fraud outcomes end-to-end across products and markets, with accountability for loss reduction, customer harm prevention, and avoided exposure in live environments.
  • Design and evolve fraud strategy and controls hands-on, translating real fraud risks (e.g. account takeover, payment fraud, first-party abuse) into effective, real-time rules, models, thresholds, and interventions.
  • Act early and proportionately in the customer journey, enabling low-friction experiences for trusted customers while decisively stopping abuse at source.
  • Set clear control intent and decision logic for Fraud Operations, partnering closely to refine execution, learn from outcomes, and shift effort upstream from downstream handling.
  • Apply strong commercial judgement, making evidence-based trade-offs between fraud risk reduction, customer experience, and operational or technology cost.
  • Own tactical control performance, managing thresholds, false positives, and service impact within agreed limits — and escalating where risk cannot be safely contained.
  • Embed fraud into product and technology design, working directly with product, engineering, data science, payments, and third-party providers to ensure fraud is addressed upfront, not cleaned up later.
  • Ensure controls are compliant and meet regulatory obligations
  • Continuously improve the control lifecycle, measuring effectiveness using outcome-based metrics, retiring low-value friction, and remediating material weaknesses at pace.

Who we are looking for-

We are committed to responsible gambling, and we are looking for people who can support our ethos. To apply to this post, you will:

  • Have an advanced degree in Business, Economics, Data/Analytics, or related field preferred and experience evolving controls in live environments and influencing product, engineering, payments, and operations teams to deliver outcomes without reliance on formal authority.
  • Have proven fraud domain expertise - deep understanding of external fraud types, risk drivers, and how fraud manifests across customer journeys, payments, promotions, and gameplay in high-volume digital environments.
  • Have hands-on, data-led control design - proven ability to translate fraud risk into practical, real-time controls (rules, models, thresholds, interventions), using data, behavioural signals, and modern fraud tooling to deliver scalable, low-latency protection.
  • Have Commercial and customer-aware judgement - ability to balance fraud risk reduction with customer experience, friction, and cost, applying proportionate controls that protect trust and support sustainable revenue.
