The Retail landscape at William Hill has been moving and shifting. We’ve taken great strides towards business transformation, and now we’re looking for an inspiring HR leader to shape our ongoing strategy and operational excellence.


As Head of HR for William Hill Retail in the North, you’ll partner a Divisional Director and provide expert HR advice whilst keeping the business on track to achieve its goals. Your territory will include over 1200 shops and around 6000 employees. So this is a big role – high profile, challenging for sure – but hugely rewarding.


Our business is fast paced and we can honestly say that no two days are the same. You’ll use your extensive employee relations experience to make sure that our Retail leaders and staff have the support they need when they need it most.  You’ll also ensure we recruit the right people to deliver great service to our customers, and be responsible for ensuring colleagues are engaging with key people processes across the Division.  From Performance Management, Learning & Development, Engagement and Change Management, to Reward and Recognition, we need someone who can roll their sleeves up and really drive the people agenda across the Division with confidence.  


As a member of the Senior HR Team for Retail, you’ll balance these challenges with significant input into our national HR strategy. Reporting to the HR Director for Retail and Group, you’ll be trusted to work with autonomy, and you’ll have the opportunity to influence at senior leadership level.  You’ll sit on the North Divisional Senior Leadership Team and be a trusted adviser to the Divisional Director.  You’ll work alongside an experienced HR counterpart in the South, and will have the support of a Northern HR Business Partner (who you will manage day to day.)


We’d like you to bring us strong multi-site generalist HR experience with proven ability to influence stakeholders and deliver stretching goals in challenging, and exciting, conditions.   You already operate at senior HR level – ideally in an organisation with a similar structure and employee base to ours. Our high performance culture is frenetic and fun, and a flexible attitude will help you to fit in. Based in Leeds, you’ll spend quite a lot of time on the road to build and cement your stakeholder relationships.
