Your role in the team

As a security engineer at William Hill, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining our security platforms and making sure we have the necessary security controls and mitigations in place to protect all our applications. You’ll be working with a varied tech stack which includes cutting edge public cloud security tools, to build automated defences against cyber-attacks or to give visibility of the state of security across the entire organisation. You’ll build the automation for self-service security controls for all our product engineering teams, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement along the way. This role would suit a DevOps or Cloud Engineer with an interest in information Security.


What we are looking for

At least two years public cloud experience, preferably AWS, with knowledge of some of the following services: AWS CloudFront, AWS Route53, AWS EC2, AWS ELB, AWS Config, AWS Security Hub, AWS Secrets Manager, ACM, AWS CloudWatch, AWS S3 and AWS lambda.

  • Experience in using Infrastructure as code (IaC), for example:
  • CloudFormation
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Must have a solid foundation in Networking
  • Knowledge of or at least a strong interest in, information security
  • Comfortable with working with the Linux command line
  • Have experience Scripting or Programming
  • Must have experience using Git
  • Experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines


What we would like you to have:

  • Experience working with Web Application Firewalls (WAF), preferably F5 products.
  • Experience managing bastions hosts and Jump boxes
  • Experience working with IDS solutions, OSSEC/Snort preferably
  • Experience using Terraform to deploy public cloud resources
  • Experience using the AWS CLI
  • Experience programming in Python
  • Attained any AWS certifications, HashiCorp certifications, IT Security, or networking professional qualifications.
  • Attained a degree or higher in relevant field
  • Experience using Splunk to build searches, dashboards and alerts.
  • Experience working to agile methodologies, sprints, and ceremonies.
  • Exposure to vulnerability management tools such as Nessus
