Infrastructure Engineer ( MRG ITOps )

We are a lively team with experience in Infrastructure delivery and support. We build, maintain, scale and deliver the server and network infrastructure, manage data centre resources, IT processes and technologies across the international division of William Hill group.

Your role in the team

We manage the entire infrastructure life cycle and identify improvements in system capabilities, capacity, performance, speed of deployment and service quality.  We ensure operating systems are patched and maintain PCI compliance and work with our colleagues in Security and Audit to accurately report. We love sharing knowledge and take pride in managing our workload using DevOPS principles and Agile working practices, and while this is evolving, we actively seek out learning opportunities. We aim to have at least 10% of our time dedicated to learning.

What we are looking for

Do you have what it takes to complement our team? If you are someone with enterprise experience in AWS, VMware, Linux, Windows and related technologies; we’d like to hear from you.You’ll ideally have past experience in the administration and management of a large Linux and Windows virtual estates across multisite environments ideally with VMware vSphere. Additionally, You’ll enjoy creating, modifying and running scripts in multiple languages and have hands on experience of bash and Powershell.
You will learn to use tools such as GIT and Terraform and manage a hybrid infrastructure across AWS, VMware and physical servers.You’ll also need to participate/contribute in our Agile team processes (Sprint) .You have the willingness to learn with us on our technical journey, then share that knowledge with those who follow.

Skills deep-dive

We need an enterprise level infrastructure engineer who has a wide experience of:

Ubuntu Linux - enterprise administration, Shell scripting ( bash , powershell , perl , python etc.) VMWare administration HPE (Proliant Blades, chassis and Physical to G10) and Dell PowerEdge servers.Windows administration with AD, deployment tools like chef/ansible/gitlab/puppet Automation e.g. Rundeck/Team City /Jenkins/gitlab runners/terraform, cloud tooling ( docker/Kubernetes etc.)

An awareness of the following technologies would be beneficial:

Commvault backups, VMWare HCI/VSAN and ISCSI, SAN & NAS Storage - Dell Unity , HPE 3-Par , HPE MSA , FreeNas, AWS fundamentals/cloudfront/cloudflare/EC2/S3/WAF/VMC, MSSQL database, MySQL database, Splunk, NewRelic, Nginx, RabbitMQ, .net, node.j Network, Firewall
