Job description

We’re really curious to know… what about you?

Where would we be without our curiosity? We wouldn’t be on top of our game, at the forefront of a dynamic industry, that’s for sure. It’s our curiosity to know that is behind our real passion for crafting with technology. To continually discover, develop and deliver top-quality digital experiences for our customers across the country?

Your role in the team
Working with the newest tech, including Kafka and Amazon Web Services, you’ll form a key part of our agile Retail Tech family. You'll be crafting seamless experiences across all our digital touchpoints. You'll get to work on greenfield projects which are reimagining the architecture of our shops, and the tech to bring it to life. By helping us to develop our in-store IT gadgets, like our self-service betting terminals, you also get to say, “I did that”, as you stroll (slowly) past our shop windows. Your ideas will be welcome and you’ll have the support and encouragement needed to develop and progress your career – without limits.

Skills needed
We’re looking for an excellent teammate with professional development experience in Java (7, 8), SQL, Spring Framework, Rabbit MQ

Additionally, exposure to any of the following will help set you apart:

Micro-services architecture, AWS, Spring Boot, Kafka, SQL/no SQL, Docker

What we offer
In addition to the benefits you expect, like healthcare and company pension, we’ll welcome you on board with 25 days holiday (not to mention 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday) and proper flexible working, where HR leave it up to us to agree on what works. You’ll also have access to your own Learning Fund to aid your development, a rewarding bonus scheme and gym discounts.

Plus, our season ticket loan and handy Metro Card loan will save you money getting to work and getting around town. If you see the journey to work as part of your fitness regime, you’ll just love our Cycle to Work scheme.

William Hill in Leeds
Right in the middle of the creative centre of the UK sit both of our newly refurbished Leeds offices. They are both a short walk from the train station, and have easy access to the bus routes. Leeds itself is a buzzy, busy place to be. A hub for tech, digital and gaming companies – there’s also five universities right on our doorstep.

Away from work, we’re the Gateway to the amazing Yorkshire Dales. We have, of course got an active sports scene with Leeds United at Elland Road. Also, Yorkshire Cricket, Rugby Union and League are just up the road in Headingly.

About us
With over 16,000 people worldwide, we make a huge investment in everyone, offering excellent career development opportunities. Our people are at the heart of everything we do. We offer a dynamic environment where we have fun, celebrate success and give you all the tools you’ll need to be your best self. It’s not just our colleagues we look after – we’ve got a responsibility to our customers too and we work hard on our ambition that nobody is harmed by gambling.
