Lead Web Developer- Front End

I’m interested

Gibraltar - Waterport Place

Job description

Lead from the front (end)

We wouldn’t be at the cutting-edge of online sports gambling without a talented technology team. There’s a lot going on #behindthebet.

About us

With over 16,000 people worldwide, we make a huge investment in everyone, offering great career development opportunities. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and we offer a fast-paced environment where we have fun, celebrate success and give you all the tools you’ll need to be your best self. It’s not just our colleagues we look after – we’ve got a responsibility to our customers too and we work hard on our ambition that nobody is harmed by gambling.

Your Role within the Team

As the Lead Developer, you’ll be the driving force behind the improvements that happen in your team, both in the technical aspects and around the well-being of the developers. You will be using your hands-on coding skills to design, implement and document solutions in collaboration with developers, architects and testers. We’d also like you to take responsibility of the integrity of the software, ensuring technical debt is managed effectively (avoid creating it and remove it whenever there's opportunity) and making sure that we are working to and feeding into development standards and best practices at all times. Using Agile frameworks and working closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Project Managers, you will provide input on roadmaps, planning and estimations.

Skills Needed

As a Lead Developer of one of our (Full Stack) Web teams, you'll know your Javascript (ES5 & ES6) as well as your React and Redux. However, if you’re an Angular or Vue person transitioning to our stack should be straightforward, too. We build our microservices in Node.js and unit and component test our code. As a leader of our people we’ll want to know they are in good hands, so proven experience in a leadership role is also important. Agile delivery, automated testing and experience in Dev Ops activities are also things we hold in high regard.  Our team is approachable, committed and most of all not afraid to work outside of their comfort zone, so if you think you’ll fit it we want to hear from you.

What we offer

Your 25 days holiday is topped up by 12 bank holidays and we offer you a generous pension, Healthcare and Life Assurance as standard. Gym discounts, and our office sports and social committee activities could be right up your street. We’ve got an excellent relocation package to support you should you make the move; English is the local language but we can help you and your family with Spanish lessons
