Leeds – St Johns

Contract type

Job description

You take pride in your work – and we take pride in our people.

If you ask our people what they like about working at William Hill, you’ll get all sorts of weird and wonderful answers. But if we’re honest, one of the best things about any job is getting paid the right money on the right day of the month. So for most of us, it’s a big deal if our pay doesn’t look right.

To keep things running smoothly, we rely on a team of dedicated and diligent Payroll Assistants. We’ve set up a brand new team in our Leeds City Centre office, so this is a great time for an ambitious payroll professional to make a move into our new HR Shared Service Centre.  We’re launching a new HR / Payroll system called SAP SuccessFactors from April 2019, and you’ll be involved in the preparation for go-live at the beginning of the 2019/20 tax year.

About Us

With around 16,000 employees in our UK shops and offices, our payroll is complex and can be challenging. You’ll do an important job – and you can make a real difference. You’ll look after all aspects of pay including tax code, manual calculations, statutory payments, sickness, maternity, leavers and everything else that you’d expect a large and diverse workforce to need.

Your Role

You’ll be an expert who’s on hand to deal with queries raised through the system channels and from colleagues direct. Taking ownership is important, and treating your colleagues with empathy and care is a must.

We’d like you to bring us experience of working in a very fast paced, high volume payroll team. You’ll already be familiar with statutory payments and deductions, tax codes and court orders and ideally working with modern systems and time and attendance systems. If you’ve got experience using SAP or any other Cloud based Payroll system it’ll be an advantage.

What we offer

We’ll welcome you onboard with 25 days holiday (not to mention 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday), a rewarding bonus scheme, an attractive pension package, healthy gym discounts and a staff benefits scheme. Plus, our season ticket loan and handy Metro Card loan will save you money getting to work and getting around town. And if you see the journey to work as part of your fitness regime, you’ll just love our Cycle to Work scheme.

Here you’ll find a friendly, supportive culture and colleagues who’ll help you learn about our business. At times, the pace of work can be pretty frenetic, so your ability to focus and produce great work under pressure will help you out. We all work hard but like to have fun, and we’d love you to be involved. We’re all in this together, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you into the team.
