Job description

At William Hill we make a huge investment in everyone, offering great career development opportunities. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we offer a fast-paced environment where we have fun, celebrate success and give you all the tools you’ll need to be your best self. It’s not just our colleagues we look after - we’ve got a responsibility to our customers too and we work hard on our ambition that nobody is harmed by gambling.

As a Product Owner, based in the UK, Poland or Gibraltar, you'll be the voice of the customer and feel passionately about the customer's experience. You'll own the product from end to end whilst collaborating with various areas of the business, bringing everyone together on one common goal, to ensure that we provide the best customer experience possible.

You'll take full ownership of the product development lifecycle, from being the voice of the customer to the go-to person for both internal and external stakeholders alike. You'll translate customer needs, commercial value, and business goals into professionally written documentation. You'll work alongside Design and Technology to ensure the product meets the high standard of customer experience that we aim for.

A team player, you will be part of a fantastic agile development team, providing information and decisions to the team whilst maintaining an actionable and prioritised product backlog, of stories, defects, and other work items. As well as taking part and facilitating customer research, requirement sessions, scoping, design planning and customer testing.

What you'll be doing

You'll be defining, managing, and leading your product from ideation through to delivery whilst aligned with the overall product roadmap and working with Customer Research, Design and Data to analyse the customer requirements and align them with strategic goals of the business. You'll also be making initiatives, problem statements or feature requests and break them down into actionable pieces of work that bring the most value and are aligned with the strategy.

In addition, you'll be:

  • Managing, prioritising, and setting the product backlog to guide and support the development team and you'll oversee all stages of development, continuously keeping those around you on track and aligned to the product vision.
  • Be a team player within the development team to provide support, answer questions and guide them on the overall product vision. This includes but is not limited to facilitating and encouraging the team during scrum-based ceremonies too.
  • Acting as the primary liaison and link between all stakeholders, teams, and departments. Though the whole product life cycle, you will ensure clarity of the latest update on the product, removal of blockers and keep track of business deliverable commitments.
  • Working closely within the Product function both within a specific area and overall to ensure product alignment across the company.
  • Taking opportunities to learn, grow and understand what the latest is from our competitors (inside and out of the industry), the current market trends and latest customer experiences are.

What we'd love to see from you:

  • Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Great interpersonal skills such as active listening and collaboration when working with other teams or departments on a common goal.
  • High standard of written, visual, and verbal communication skills, to be able to communicate clearly through all means.
  • Highly organised in terms of planning and prioritisation of workload and effective time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail with a curious nature, embracing ambiguity and having the confidence to ask “Why?"
  • Creative thinker with the ability to identify an issue, be clear in what the problem is and be able to break it down to simplify it for others.
  • Deep understanding or experience working within an Agile framework.
  • Be able to work autonomously but also as part of a development team, inspiring and motivating the team when necessary.
  • Good working knowledge of technology and a great collaborative approach to developers and engineers alike.
  • You’ll appreciate great design and enjoy collaborating on great user experiences.

This role may be suited for you even if you are new to Product, but you have experience with Engineering, Design or Business Analysis, Customer Experience, Quality Assurance and Business.
