Job description

Our Production Operations Analysts are our first responders for service and cyber security incidents - they are William Hill Tech's first line of defence. We're building our team in Leeds, and are looking for people who are passionate about protecting our business, customers and systems through world class Information Security, Network Security and Enterprise Security.

About us

We make a huge investment in everyone, offering great career development opportunities. Our people are at the heart of everything we do and we offer a fast-paced environment where we have fun, celebrate success and give you all the tools you’ll need to be your best self. It’s not just our colleagues we look after – we’ve got a responsibility to our customers too and we work hard on our ambition that nobody is harmed by gambling.

Your role in the team

Using a suite of world class monitoring tools, our team have visibility over the entire enterprise stack - from on-premise databases to auto-scaled services in the AWS Cloud. This is a global business that never stops  - 24/7, 365 days a year - so we always have people available to diagnose and triage incidents, apply fixes and engage technical experts to minimise disruption, keeping our customers happy and secure.

You'll be involved in identifying and managing security incidents, following-up with internal and external customers, owning issues until closure. You'll follow, write and refine incident run books to deliver a first class rehearsed response to both service and security incidents.

Your role will also involve performing basic systems testing and operational tasks (smoke tests and network connectivity testing, script executions) plus always aiming to improve our security processes and procedures. There will be a lot to learn, but there are plenty of experts to help you, and you'll find great long - term career opportunities as part of our global technology team.

Skills needed

This role will suit you if you have a passion for IT security and experience in a similar role  - preferably from a NOC, SOC, EOC or Service Support / Service Management / Infrastructure operations background.

Here, you'll have the opportunity to use enterprise class system admin tools (UNIX and AWS) as well as monitoring tools (New Relic) so it would be beneficial if you have an awareness or understanding of how these tools are used.

It's essential that you have a good grounding in IT - either from your professional experience or from a degree level qualification. This is a fast-paced environment, so the ability to keep your cool under pressure is key, as is teamwork - we are always busy, but are flexible and give each other support.  You'll need excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to prioritise and organise your work effectively.

Because our team covers a 24/7 shift pattern, you'll need the flexibility to cover nights, weekends and public holidays. And of course because we're William Hill, we love our sport - so a passion for sport will help you get to grips with our business and systems.

What we offer

We’ll welcome you on board with 25 days holiday (not to mention 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday), healthcare (or a cash alternative), an attractive pension package. As an added incentive, we offer a rewarding bonus scheme too. And if you’re a fan of saving money and keeping fit, our handy Metro Card loan and healthy gym discounts will be well received.

William Hill in Leeds

Right in the middle of the creative heart of the UK sits our Leeds office. Leeds itself is a buzzy, busy place to work and live. A hub for tech, digital and gaming companies – there are also five universities right on our doorstep. And away from work, we’re close to the Yorkshire Dales and of course have got a competitive sports scene with Leeds United and Yorkshire Cricket and Rugby just up the road in Headingley.
