Programme Manager - UK Strategy

I’m interested

Leeds, UK

Contract type

Job description

As a Programme Manager in UK Strategy, you'll focus on the delivery of key strategic and change delivery programmes and projects, while supporting the Head of Strategic Programmes on execution of our overall change programme.

About us

Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we offer a fast-paced environment where we have fun, celebrate success and give you all the tools you’ll need to be your best self. It’s not just our colleagues we look after – we’ve got a responsibility to our customers too and we work hard on our ambition that nobody is harmed by gambling.

Your role in the team

You will specifically take responsibility for the high priority and high visibility projects which have a significant business impact for the UK market. Within the governance of our change delivery programme you will support the business on bringing to life the long-term strategy with actionable and targeted plans, stakeholder management and change readiness, metrics, and evaluation.

You'll be responsible for collating and aligning the requirements coming from the business functions and ensuring that we have a clear and single-minded view across all departments of our strategic initiatives. This is a highly visible role which will allow you to work with multiple and diverse teams across the global William Hill campuses, on highly complex projects which impact both the UK retail and online business.

Your expertise will enable you to support training efforts related to transformation and embedding change in the business long term – documenting processes which allows the business to create efficient change mechanisms. We'll expect you to challenge the business on applying change management processes and tools to create strategies that drive programme success and allow change to be sustainably adopted by William Hill UK.

By measuring and tracking the success criteria for our change initiatives, you'll support the business by illustrating the commercial benefits of the strategic changes we are making.

Skills needed

You must be able to bring us extensive experience within a change delivery role. A background in technical project management in a fast paced, digitally focused industry will set you up well for success. We'll be looking for examples of working closely with software development teams.

You'll need strong project management and organisational skills with an orientation to being data and research led in your thinking. You'll have a proven track record of working in a matrix structure and collaborating with a wide network of colleagues, plus experience delivering and completing successful change programs.

The role will make the most of your excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically and critically in developing efficient approaches to change. You'll also benefit from your ability to work independently and within a dynamic and agile environment, and to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Familiarity and experience working with agile and scrum methodology is key.

It's important that you have the ability to establish effective relationships at all levels of the organisation, including challenging and supporting the senior leadership team. We're a collaborative organisation, so you'll need to be team orientated and can flex your approach to programme management based on the stakeholders and challenges involved.

We'd like to see experience on bringing structure to abstract and undefined tasks, and bringing concepts from ideation sessions into actionable plans. First class verbal and written communication skills are essential - you must be able to deliver clear, concise and influential messages.

What we offer

We take the safety and wellbeing of our employees seriously, especially at this challenging time. We have put in place robust Covid19 measures and are supporting our new employees with a smooth remote onboarding and training program to make you feel welcome and part of our team.

We have welcomed our teams back to the office and have a balanced approach to office and home working.  Our employees have the opportunity to work from home up to 80% of the time with 20% of office time built in to ensure we get some face-to-face collaborative team time - and the chance for a coffee and a catch up!  Although the team are primarily based in Leeds, we also have offices in London and Gibraltar and we're pretty flexible which office you work from.

We’ll welcome you on-board with 25 days holiday (not to mention 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday), a rewarding bonus scheme, healthcare (or a cash alternative), an attractive pension package and a flexible benefits scheme. If you are working in our Leeds office, you’ll be close to a competitive sports scene with Leeds United and Yorkshire Cricket and Rugby just up the road in Headingley.
