Leeds – St Johns

Contract type

Job description

It's not just crunching the numbers.

Your Role within the team

We're looking for an insightful finance professional with a natural desire to delve deep, explore large volumes of data and shape the future of our business. You'll be the sort of Accountant that asks and can solve the crucial questions why, how and what if? In this role you'll work with a small team of like-minded people, reporting into the Retail Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, and will analyse and influence the trading performance of our Retail business.

This is an exciting and broad role and a chance to be at the heart of William Hill. You'll have the opportunity to work with and support a wide and varied group of stakeholders across the area (an interest in sport would be great!) to optimise trading performance. We want you to understand trends and forecasting outturn and of course report on trading and margin performance.

There's no typical day, which should keep you on your toes! You'll be responsible for producing month end accounts, post journals, balance sheet reconciliations and preparing cost analysis. You’ll partner with and communicate to people across all aspects of the business, from Operations to Trading, and will be confident presenting the financial findings to your stakeholders. You'll use the data at your fingertips to spot trends, identify risks and highlight opportunities. Adept at translating this data and telling the stories, you will guide and influence the business as to how we can optimise performance and identify opportunities to drive revenue and control costs.

Skills Needed

You'll be degree educated, preferably with an additional full or part Finance qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Ideally, your background will be retail, consultancy, practice or any large multi-product company coupled with experience working in trading and commercial environments.  If you have previously used JDE that would be great too.

You'll have a track record in deep analysis of data to produce trends, identify risks and explore opportunities. You'll need to be comfortable working with vague concepts, direction and ambiguity but will relish the opportunity to develop analysis to aide decision making.

With excellent attention to detail, you'll have demonstrable experience of producing accurate and timely reporting, accounts and forecasts. You'll thrive in a busy environment and will enjoy the challenge of stretching targets and deadlines.

A real people person, you'll be an excellent communicator with senior stakeholder management experience, you'll be an effective Business Partner who is able to forge and foster strong working relationships. You'll be able to operate at a granular level as well as summarise findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner. This may be a finance role but it's not just about crunching the numbers. You'll have the skills to convey the key messages through effective story-telling and insightful commentary, supporting William Hill to drive revenue and manage costs.

What we offer

We’ll welcome you on-board with 25 days holiday (not to mention 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday), a rewarding bonus scheme, healthcare (or a cash alternative), an attractive pension package, life assurance, healthy gym discounts and a flexible benefits scheme. Plus, our season ticket loan and handy Metro Card loan will save you money getting to work and getting around town. And if you see the journey to work as part of your fitness regime, you’ll just love our Cycle to Work scheme.
