We’re looking for an experienced Risk & Controls Manager to join our 2nd line Group Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. In this role, you’ll develop and maintain a strong internal IT controls framework to ensure financial reporting integrity, asset protection, and regulatory compliance. You’ll work across departments to identify IT risks, establish effective controls, and promote a culture of accountability and transparency.

What you'll be doing

  • Design IT General Controls (manual, semi-automated, automated) for existing systems and transformation projects to mitigate risks affecting financial reporting accuracy.
  • Act as the SME for IT General Controls, maintaining the Risk and Controls Matrix (RACM) and applying SOx, COSO, and ICFR best practices.
  • Support control owners in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for IT controls.
  • Develop documentation (e.g., IT process narratives) according to SOx best practices.
  • Conduct periodic testing of IT controls to ensure compliance with the UK Corporate Governance Code.
  • Evaluate IT control effectiveness, recommend enhancements, and support gap remediation and impact assessments.
  • Prepare periodic reports for Executives and the Board on IT control results, risks, and deficiencies.
  • Monitor Segregation of Duties (SOD) and Sensitive Access (SA) matrix, support SOD/SA design, and implement tools for monitoring

Who we are looking for 

  • Designing and implementing internal controls frameworks, with experience in risk, audit, or controls roles, ideally within consulting/audit or regulated industries
  • Hands-on experience with ITGCs, ITACs (manual, semi-automated, automated), IPE financial reports testing, SOD/SA design, and transitioning to automated controls
  • Understanding of IT control frameworks (e.g., SOx, NIST, ISO 2700x), risk management, and regulatory compliance, with expertise across multiple technologies (Cloud, SDLC, Cybersecurity, AI)
  • Project management, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders, make actionable recommendations, and explain complex technical concepts clearly
  • Desirable: Experience in Big 4 consultancy, SOx/UK Corporate Governance knowledge, gambling industry experience, and IT Risk Certification (e.g., CISSP)
