Job description

Senior UX Designer - Retail

Here at William Hill we’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior UX Designer to help us develop the UK’s best retail betting experience for our customers. You’ll be part of a team working on our Retail product, helping them to deliver new products and services and make them more engaging for our customers.

The work will involve improving the Retail betting experience. Together with other UX designers you’ll own projects from start to finish, setting a benchmark for what good looks like, and how to get there. You'll be discovering customer pain points and creating solutions to the problems that will help to grow business and make customers more engaged.

Being an advocate for our customers you’ll engage with the product team to provide a strong customer voice – we want user-centred design to be at the forefront of every process.

You’ll collaborate with different disciplines working closely with UX designers, UX researchers, engineers, product owners, data analysts and business stakeholders to research, build and deliver your designs.

By mentoring others you’ll help to develop the UX skills of other designers in your team and grow the new generation of UX designers.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Being an holistic user experience problem solver that considers every facet of the user journey
  • Having the ability to design the flow and layout of complete solutions to solve customer problems
  • Have prototyping and testing skills to validate your designs and improve them
  • Helping business to shape problem statements and plan roadmaps.
  • Taking the initiative and being a collaborative team player
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating customer-first mindset backed up with user research at all stages of your work
  • Previous experience working with researchers, product managers, developers, and other designers to plan, prioritise, and execute on complex problems
  • Excellent communication skills when sharing UX solutions with wider development and design teams and senior business stakeholders.

Here’s how we’ll support and help you to succeed:

We know our industry can be complex, but we want you to succeed and help us shape new generation of Retail betting. We'll offer:

  • A strong onboarding plan that will help you to know the industry and the customers and feel strong in the position.
  • An experienced UXD team will always have your back and help guide you all the way
  • UI designers who will help to bring your projects to customers
  • Research team will help you get more insights from customers
  •  An Analytics team to give you insights on live projects
  •  A UX writer to help to keep our tone of voice clear and friendly for users
  • Training and development budget will help you keep improving in your role.

To apply, you’ll have an impressive online portfolio that demonstrates your UX design talent so please include a link with your CV – sorry we can’t consider your application without this.

What we offer

We’ll welcome you onboard with 25 days' holiday (plus 8 bank holidays and an extra day for your birthday), healthcare, an attractive pension package and life assurance. We offer an impressive bonus scheme too. And if you’re a fan of saving money and keeping fit, our handsomely discounted Zone 1-6 Oyster card and healthy gym discounts will be welcome news indeed.

After your successful probation period we’ll give you a budget towards books or any other training of your choice to help you develop and refine your skills.

We take the safety and wellbeing of our employees seriously, especially at this challenging time. We have robust Covid 19 measures and support all our new employees with a smooth remote onboarding and training programme to make you feel welcome and part of our team.

We’ll soon be able to welcome our teams back to the office. However, we want to offer a balanced approach to office and home working - now and for the long-term future. So you’ll be able to work from home up to 80% of the time with 20% of office time built in to ensure we all get some face-to-face collaborative team time - and the chance for a coffee and a catch up!
