Your role within the team

You’ll be part of the Cloud Platform Engineering team that takes the lead in building out our next generation cloud platforms, we are leaving the past behind and focusing on re-usability and reliability. As we mature we are drawing particular focus on automation by using cloud native capabilities to speed up our ability to deliver the new William Hill International sports and Gaming platform into new markets.

Tech stack that we use in Cloud Platform Engineering is: Terraform: Terragrunt, Istio, Python and AWS Native services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading an agile team of engineers based in UK & Europe
  • Deliver high quality, customer centric technical solutions to exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Play an active role in the development life cycle, driving expansion into AWS through effective DevOps principles, clean terraform code and docker/Kubernetes orchestration.
  • Continuous review of processes and technologies to drive down time to markets for all products and services across Trading and Unity
  •  Be accountable for the technical delivery of the team’s scope to continuously improve our cycle time for feature delivery and supporting the engineers in workforce planning       
  •  Engage and direct any ‘Proof of Concept’ or prototyping of solutions
  • Partner with the Products Owners on delivery to the customer

Skills Needed

  • Excellent working knowledge of AWS- with a background in Infrastructure as code including management and testing infrastructure deployments- you’ll need to be hands on with programming with Infrastructure as code in Terraform
  • Previous experience in creating reusable cloud architecture and composable terraform modules
  • Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes running production workloads
  • Experience in architecting end to end cloud services for high performance API based applications
  • Knowledge of developing distributed services deployed on local, on premise and cloud-based platforms.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management, provisioning and orchestration tools
  • Monitoring / Logging with Prometheus, Grafana, experience with monitoring tools like New Relic.
  • Experience of working in an Agile development environment
  • Experience of leading a team
