This role will report into the Group Head of Indirect Tax and you will be part of a team responsible for meeting our tax obligations for the group and for our colleagues and customers, ensuring the tax consequences of all transactions are understood and that the Group is in full compliance with its obligations. You will be supported by and work closely with the Group Head of Tax, external advisors and our shared service centre. Your key stakeholders will be across our global jurisdictions and will include Finance, Accounts Payable, our external advisory partnerships and auditors. This role will have no direct line management responsibility but you will be expected to provide cross functional guidance and direction to ensure delivery of our tax obligations.

What you will be doing:
You will have defined responsibilities as part of the team but with additional opportunities to be involved in wider group projects related to tax. Your responsibilities will include:
- Act as a key stakeholder of the shared service tax team, overseeing the preparation of, review and monitor the filing of the quarterly VAT returns
- Review the calculation of VAT payments / payments on account
- Preparation of the UK and Malta partial exemption method, annual adjustments, and capital goods scheme adjustments
- Ensure timely payment of indirect tax liabilities
- Support the delivery of the group’s indirect tax compliance timetable
- Lead and manage relationships with our third party advisors and suppliers
- Responsible for VAT balance sheet account reconciliations; - Coordinating indirect tax accounting and reporting processes to support the management accounting team with monthly tax provisions
- Support with any queries raised and audits conducted by tax authorities
- Manage relationships with the companies’ tax advisers and their auditors
- Monitor changes in legislation, assessing the impact on the business, and assisting delivery of change
- Ensure we document our tax calculation policies and return submission processes
- Identify process improvements areas where controls can be enhanced
- Lead the delivery of assurance reviews across the group
- Providing VAT advice, support and training to business teams and other functions
Who we are looking for:
- Experienced indirect tax professional with a depth of understanding of UK indirect taxes and ideally, experience in a multi jurisdiction organisation in industry with global awareness of indirect tax issues
- Accountancy or Tax Qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CTA, or ATT qualified); or equivalent international qualification
- Track record of stakeholder management and supporting, advising and collaborating with internal and external teams and partners
- Able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and able to adapt to a diverse and global audience. Can translate complex information effectively to non-tax/financial stakeholders.
- Previous responsibility for indirect tax compliance and tax accounting
- Able to quickly grasp complex commercial transactions, oversee their execution, and provide clear insights, assessments and guidance
- Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple activities to deadlines
